Most tarot card decks come in a cardboard box. There is nothing wrong with keeping your tarot cards in this box when you are not using them.
If you want to personalize the storage for your cards, it can be fun to store your cards in a pouch, a scarf, or a fancy box.
I like to wrap my tarot cards in a nice scarf. A scarf can also be used to do your tarot spread on (as an altar).

(1) Pets and/or children that could chew, bend, loose, draw on, or tear them.
(2) Anywhere where there are drinks, or liquid that could be spilt on them.
(3) Away from the harsh elements such as heat, that could fade the cards. This includes the sun, indoor heaters, and appliances etc.
(4) Dampness and water. For example never store your tarot cards in a cupboard or draw that is damp. Doing this could make your cards go moldy, warp/bend out of shape, or cause the cards to stink.
