Obese Londoner man Sean O’Brien loves to dance, but had his enjoyment of dancing ruined when bullies started to laugh at him while he was dancing in the crowd at a concert earlier this year – March 2015.
Made to feel ashamed, Sean put his head down and stopped dancing.
The bullies didn’t stop at this cruel act, they were quick to film Sean dancing and of him holding his head down in shame when he was laughed at.
Shortly afterward, these bullies posted the video on website 4Chan with the comment…
“Spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week”
“He stopped when he saw us laughing.”
Internet users disgusted by this cruel post soon showed their support for the over weight man pictured dancing.
Writer and activist of the The Free Thought Movement, Cassandra Fairbanks was angered when she came across the photos, and set a up a social media campaign to find this dancing man. She asked her large group of followers to help find him.
The social media campaign got support by many celebrities including famous DJ – Moby, Pharrell Williams and even Monica Lewinsky.
Sean now nick named ‘The Dancing Man,’ was found within hours of this campaign going viral, and offered an invite to a party in his honor to dance with celebrities.
Once found, Sean was over whelmed by the support and kindness of many strangers, and happy to attend the party the celebrities had organized for him in Los Angeles – (May 2015).

In honor for Sean O’brien, the vendors, the music, the motel & flights were all donated for this dance party to take place. The efforts raised over $70,000 that will go towards Anti-bullying & Positive body image programs in the U.K and U.S.
Since being cyber bullied dancing man has been invited to many events including opening the first game of the season for the Dodgers baseball team, and being a speaker for ‘The Dance Free Movement‘.
